I really get the image of confusion in this book. I don't think it is solely because I am confused personally, but Solomon is probably making a point in how confusingly this book is written. In one paragraph you will read about how foolish men thrive while the righteous are thwarted. Then the next paragraph will say the exact opposite. However, I also see that this is very true. Both things happen. There is no method or rule that is set in place here on Earth. I already know of the final, eternal rule that will govern us all, but it is not visible now.
This may be what Solomon is trying to say; this world's rules don't mirror eternity's rules, God's rules.
Something else that caught my attention was 7:15-18. Solomon says the be a little wise while retaining a little foolishness. Sounds silly, but I think I understand it. We should be wise in our actions to earnestly seek and obey God but not so much so that we seek to explain Him and in doing so, shame ourselves. Because, "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise." (1 Corinthians 1:27 NASB)
And yet, with all Solomon's wisdom, there is someone greater. Matthew 12:42
Joshua
